Social Feed

Connect and engage with your homeschool community through an interactive social feed. Share updates, photos, videos, create polls, and react to posts from other members in your group.

What is the Social Feed?​

The social feed is your group's central hub for community interaction. Members can:

  • Share text updates, photos, videos, and links
  • React to posts with expressions
  • Comment and have conversations
  • Participate in polls
  • Mention other members with @username
  • View content in full-screen mode

Accessing the Group Feed​

To view your group's social feed:

  1. Go to your group's page
  2. Click the Feed tab
  3. View all posts from group members

The feed shows the most recent posts first, keeping you up to date with community activity.

Viewing Posts​

Post Types​

The feed displays several types of content:

Text Posts

  • Updates and announcements from members
  • Questions and discussions
  • General community sharing

Photo Posts

  • Images with captions
  • Event photos and memories
  • Activity highlights

Video Posts

  • Recorded video content
  • Activity demonstrations
  • Event highlights

Link Posts

  • Shared articles or resources
  • Automatic preview generation
  • Helpful links for the community

Polls

  • Community questions
  • Decision-making surveys
  • Fun polls for engagement

Full-Screen View​

For distraction-free reading:

  1. Click on any post
  2. The post opens in a full-screen modal
  3. View all details, comments, and reactions
  4. Click outside the modal or press ESC to close

Reacting to Posts​

Express how you feel about posts using six different reactions:

  • Like - Show appreciation or agreement
  • Love - Express strong appreciation
  • Haha - Found it funny or amusing
  • Wow - Surprised or impressed
  • Sad - Sympathetic or disappointed
  • Angry - Frustrated or upset

How to React​

  1. Hover over a post
  2. Click the reaction icon
  3. Select your reaction from the options
  4. Your reaction is added instantly

Change Your Reaction​

To change or remove your reaction:

  1. Click the reaction icon again
  2. Select a different reaction to change it
  3. Or click your current reaction to remove it

See Who Reacted​

To view who reacted to a post:

  1. Click on the reaction count below the post
  2. See a list of all reactions
  3. View reactions grouped by type
Quick Reactions

You can react without opening the full post. Just hover and click the reaction icon directly from the feed.

Commenting on Posts​

Join conversations by adding comments to posts.

Add a Comment​

  1. Click on a post to open it
  2. Type your comment in the text box
  3. Click Post or press Enter
  4. Your comment appears immediately

Mention Members​

Tag other group members in your comments:

  1. Type @ followed by their username
  2. Select from the list of members that appears
  3. The mentioned member receives a notification

For example: "@sarah have you seen this?"

Only members of the group can be mentioned. Start typing their name after the @ symbol to see matching members.

Reply to Comments​

Create threaded conversations:

  1. Find the comment you want to reply to
  2. Click Reply
  3. Type your response
  4. Your reply is nested under the original comment

Edit Your Comment​

Made a mistake?

  1. Click the ... menu on your comment
  2. Select Edit
  3. Make your changes
  4. Click Save

Delete Your Comment​

To remove a comment you posted:

  1. Click the ... menu on your comment
  2. Select Delete
  3. Confirm the deletion

Viewing Media​

Photos​

View photos in high quality:

  1. Click on any photo in a post
  2. The image opens in full-screen view
  3. Read the photo caption (if provided)
  4. Use arrow keys or swipe to navigate multiple photos
  5. Click X or press ESC to close

Photo Captions

  • Captions appear below photos
  • Provide context and details
  • Help identify people and events

Videos​

Watch videos directly in the feed:

  1. Click the play button on any video
  2. Video plays inline in the post
  3. Use standard video controls
  4. Click to pause or adjust volume

When members share links, you'll see:

  • Preview image from the linked page
  • Title and description
  • Source website information
  • Click to open the full link

Participating in Polls​

Group members can create polls to gather opinions or make group decisions.

Vote in a Poll​

  1. Read the poll question
  2. Select your answer from the options
  3. Click Vote to submit
  4. Your vote is recorded

View Poll Results​

After voting, you can see:

  • Percentage for each option
  • Total number of votes
  • Which option is leading
  • Who voted for what (depending on poll settings)

Change Your Vote​

If the poll allows:

  1. Click Change Vote
  2. Select a different option
  3. Your vote is updated

Some polls may be anonymous, while others show who voted for each option. The poll creator determines this setting.

Feed Notifications​

Stay updated on feed activity that matters to you.

Notification Types​

You'll be notified when:

  • Someone reacts to your post
  • Someone comments on your post
  • Someone replies to your comment
  • Someone mentions you with @username
  • Someone votes in your poll

Manage Feed Notifications​

To control which feed notifications you receive:

  1. Go to Account Settings
  2. Click Notifications
  3. Find the Group Feed section
  4. Toggle notifications on or off:
    • Reactions on your posts
    • Comments on your posts
    • Mentions
    • Poll votes
  5. Choose notification delivery:
    • Email
    • Push notifications
    • In-app only

Turn on notifications for mentions and comments to stay actively involved in conversations without being overwhelmed by every update.

Engaging with the Community​

  • React to posts to show engagement
  • Leave thoughtful comments
  • Use mentions to include relevant members
  • Share helpful resources and updates
  • Participate in polls and discussions

Photo and Video Sharing​

  • Add descriptive captions to photos
  • Keep videos concise and relevant
  • Ensure content is appropriate for all ages
  • Respect privacy when posting photos of children

Respectful Interaction​

  • Keep conversations friendly and constructive
  • Respect differing opinions
  • Stay on topic for your group
  • Report inappropriate content to group leaders

Troubleshooting​

Can't See the Feed​

If you don't see the feed tab:

  • Confirm you're an active member of the group
  • The group leader may have disabled the feed
  • Check with group leaders if you have questions

Reaction Didn't Register​

If your reaction doesn't appear:

  • Check your internet connection
  • Refresh the page
  • Try again in a few moments

Mention Not Working​

If @mentions aren't working:

  • Make sure you're typing the exact username
  • Verify the person is a member of the group
  • Select from the dropdown that appears

Photo Won't Load​

If photos aren't displaying:

  • Check your internet connection
  • Try refreshing the page
  • Clear your browser cache
