Delete Your Account

If you decide to leave Homeschool Hive, you can delete your account. This guide explains the process and what happens to your data.

Before You Delete

Consider These Alternatives

Before deleting, you might want to:

  • Leave groups instead of deleting your account
  • Disable notifications if you're getting too many emails
  • Take a break - you can always log back in later
  • Contact support if you're having issues we can help resolve

What You'll Lose

Deleting your account permanently removes:

  • Your profile and personal information
  • Family member profiles
  • Event registration history
  • Payment history access
  • Group memberships
  • Scholarship invoice records
  • All associated data

What Remains

Some data may be retained:

  • Transaction records (required for financial/legal purposes)
  • Data in group records that doesn't identify you personally
  • Anonymized data used for platform statistics

Cancel Subscriptions First

If you have active paid memberships:

  1. Go to each group you're a paying member of
  2. Cancel your membership
  3. Wait for the cancellation to process
  4. Then proceed with account deletion
Active Subscriptions

If you delete your account with active subscriptions, you won't receive refunds for unused time. Cancel memberships first to avoid unexpected charges.

Delete Your Account

Start the Deletion Process

  1. Go to Account Settings
  2. Scroll to the bottom or find Delete Account
  3. Click Delete My Account

Confirm Your Identity

For security, you'll need to:

  1. Enter your password
  2. Or verify via email
  3. Confirm you understand the consequences

Final Confirmation

Before deletion completes:

  1. Review what will be deleted
  2. Read the confirmation message
  3. Type "DELETE" or your email to confirm
  4. Click Permanently Delete Account

After Deletion

Immediate Effects

Once deleted:

  • You're logged out immediately
  • You cannot log back in
  • Your profile is removed from groups
  • Other members can no longer see your profile

Email Confirmation

You'll receive a confirmation email:

  • Confirms account deletion
  • Lists what was removed
  • Provides support contact if needed

Data Deletion Requests

Additional Data Requests

For additional data removal beyond standard deletion:

  1. Email privacy@homeschoolhive.co
  2. Include "Data Deletion Request" in the subject
  3. Provide:
    • Email address used on your account
    • Specific data you want removed
    • Reason (optional)

Some data must be retained for:

  • Tax and financial reporting
  • Legal compliance
  • Fraud prevention
  • Dispute resolution

This data is:

  • Stored securely
  • Not used for marketing
  • Deleted when retention period ends

Data Export

Before deleting, you can request your data:

  1. Go to Account Settings
  2. Find Download My Data or similar option
  3. Request a data export
  4. Download within the provided timeframe
  5. Then proceed with deletion

Rejoining Later

Can I Come Back?

If you change your mind:

  • You can create a new account with the same email
  • Your old data will not be restored
  • You'll start fresh as a new user
  • You'll need to rejoin groups and set up your profile again

Waiting Period

Some platforms have a grace period, but at Homeschool Hive:

  • Deletion begins immediately upon confirmation
  • There is no recovery window
  • Make sure you're certain before confirming

Special Circumstances

Group Leaders

If you're a group leader:

  1. Transfer ownership to another leader first
  2. Or ensure there's another owner/co-leader
  3. If you're the only leader, the group may be affected
  4. Contact support for guidance on transitioning leadership

Pending Transactions

If you have pending transactions:

  • Wait for payments to process
  • Resolve any refund requests
  • Complete or cancel any pending registrations
  • Then delete your account

Linked Accounts

If you signed up with Google or another provider:

  • Deleting your Homeschool Hive account doesn't affect your Google account
  • You can revoke Homeschool Hive's access in your Google settings afterward
